A Journey from Culture to Caldera

Day to day itinerary

DAY
1
Arrive in Uganda–The Pearl of Africa (with a hint of jet lag)

Your adventure begins! A friendly Kagera Safaris guide meets you at the airport, welcomes you with a smile, and possibly a dad joke, then whisks you off to your hotel. Sleep tight tomorrow, the fun starts.

DAY
2
Transfer to Jinja – East Africa’s Adrenaline Playground

After breakfast, it’s off to Jinja! But first, a stop at Sezibwa Falls for a little splash of culture (and a lot of photo ops). Then we drive through scenic tea and sugarcane plantations that’ll make you question why your houseplants keep dying.

We hop on a boat at the source of the Nile, where a lively local guide will explain how the river makes its epic journey to Egypt, spoiler: it doesn’t Uber. After this, it’s onward to Sipi for a cosy overnight stay.

DAY
3 - 4
Sipi Culture, Coffee, and Waterfalls (and maybe a little cardio)

Meet the Sabiny people and learn their stories. Visit the Sipi Widows’ Group and discover how some of the world’s best coffee is grown, picked, roasted, and probably better than whatever’s in your favorite overpriced café.

You’ll try your hand at traditional weaving, learn to cook Sabiny-style (warning, it’s tastier than it looks), and yesbuy souvenirs you’ll swear aren’t gifts, but secretly are.

You’ll also trek to the gorgeous Sipi Falls Don't worry, your calves will forgive you eventually.

DAY
5
Start the Hike–Piswa Camp, Here We Come

Strap on your hiking boots and mentally prepare to become one with Mt. Elgon. Starting at Kapkwata, you’ll hike through bamboo forests and scenic landscapes on your way to Piswa Camp. It’s not Everest, but your legs might disagree by evening.

DAY
6
Hunters Cave Camp–Now We’re Getting Serious

Today’s hike includes rare alpine plants, jaw-dropping views, and a surprise hot spring that basically screams, “Take a break, champ.” You’ll pass Suam Gorge (cue dramatic selfies) before arriving at Hunters Cave Camp. Altitude: 3850 meters. Vibe: Epic.

DAY
7
The Big Climb–Wagagai Peak or Bust

It’s peak day literally! Ascend to Wagagai Peak at a lung-challenging 4321 meters. The views are absolutely worth every drop of sweat. From here, descend via Jackson Summit and Jackson Pool (great name, average swimming spot) to Mude Cave Camp for some much-earned rest.

DAY
8
Descend via Sasa Trail – Your Knees Will Remember This

Today we take the scenic Sasa Trail down to Budadiri. Why a different route? So you can brag about seeing both sides of the mountain, of course. After reuniting with your driver, enjoy a lunch stop in Mbale and head back to Kampala, where showers and soft beds await.

DAY
9
Departure–You Made It!

After conquering culture, cuisine, and a literal mountain, it’s time to head home. Your guide will transfer you to the airport with plenty of time to reflect on all the amazing things you just accomplished and maybe plan your next Ugandan adventure (hint: there are chimps involved).

Ready to walk, hike, eat, laugh, and sweat your way through Uganda?

This trip is part cultural hug, part mountain boot camp and 100% unforgettable.
